SWAT situation at downtown apartment complex, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – After almost eight hours, a SWAT standoff at an apartment complex on North Santa Rosa has ended peacefully.

According to police, the SWAT team was able to go inside the apartment through the front door and take the man into custody. Police found the man in the bathroom having some sort of mental health crisis, and he has been taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

The call began when a resident at the apartment complex said there was water coming down from the apartment upstairs and maintenance was called. The San Antonio Fire Department went into that upstairs apartment when they realized the man inside may be armed.

Police were called, and the man barricaded himself inside.

Some family has been at the scene, and police say they were helpful in the investigation.

Police said no one else was in danger, and the man was taken into custody without incident. As of now, no charges have been filed and the man has been transferred to the hospital.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information is made available.
